The strikingly simple white design on black background cloth represents the serious artistic manner of communicating important cultural norms of village life in Mali, Africa. Learn about the traditional method of Bogolanfini, dyeing cotton cloth with mud, and how that process can be modified two different ways to work outside of Mali. Create your own story designs using local muds on cotton and other natural fiber cloth. Connect with the earth and gain an appreciation of the Mali culture.

A simple supply list will be sent to students. Beginners or intermediate dyers welcome in this kitchen-science workshop.
